In its 50-year history, the school has provided solid biblical training, strong academics, successful athletics, and an outstanding music program. Blue Ridge Christian School’s student influence is felt throughout the entire Kansas City area and reaches throughout the nation. Graduates have been successful in all walks of life including:

  • The Massachusetts’s Institute of Technology (MIT)
  • The US Naval and Air Force academies
  • Becoming college professors, doctors, attorneys and nurses
  • Working at the Missouri Attorney General’s office
  • Being recruited by NASA
  • Attending colleges (with scholarships) from coast to coast

Students have come from over 70 churches and 6 countries giving the school constituency a vital global and interdenominational heritage.

Original Campus

The school had its beginnings at at 8524 Blue Ridge Blvd in Raytown, Missouri. The school opened in the fall of 1968, with 42 students and four teachers, offering preschool through second grade. A grade was added each year up until 1980. Then, in May 1981, BRCS graduated its first high school class of 12 proud seniors. As the church grew, the school expanded also. In 1980 the high school building and gymnasium were completed at this original campus.

A new music wing and a computer lab were added in 1987. A major fire destroyed the church sanctuary in 1993, resulting in new construction of a 400 seat sanctuary and additional school space for junior high classroom, locker rooms, cafeteria, kitchen, and library. A modular classroom building was added in 1990 as well as a large storage building in 1994.

New Campus

In the summer of 2016 the school relocated to the campus of Calvary University in south Kansas City. With a new location and a new partnership with a Christian University, Blue Ridge Christian School began building new roots while continuing its original mission of equipping and empowering in a caring, safe environment.

Continued Growth and Opportunity

Today, BRCS enjoys accreditation with both the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and AdvancED. Over the years, the school has touched the lives of 1,000’s of students, including many I-20 scholars, through education from a biblical worldview, academic excellence and godly character formation.

As the school has grown over the years, so have the academic and activity programs. Academically, juniors and seniors may take dual-credit courses through Calvary University and may also both a high school diploma AND an Associates of General Education upon graduation. Terra Nova and ACT standardized test results  indicate students are performing at a high level and, technologically, the school is undergoing an extensive revitalization.
